Concord, NC
The new Cabarrus County Regional Mental Health Treatment Center is a “no wrong door” behavioral health crisis center for adults and youths in the Concord/Kannapolis region. The facility includes a Behavioral Health Urgent Care (BHUC) for each population that receives clients experiencing a mental health crisis either as walk-ins or dropped off by first responders trained to recognize the client’s needs.
Upon intake, the BHUCs provide a 23-hour observation space where clients receive stabilizing treatment before being referred to the appropriate level of care. The operational target is to defer up to 70% of patients from inpatient admission to lower levels of care following stabilization. The intake process includes integrated primary care services and rapid assessment.
The facility includes two units for adults: a 10-bed Substance Use Disorder unit and a 10-bed Inpatient unit.
The facility includes three units for pediatrics: 8-bed PRTF Residential Treatment units- which are designed to the highest inpatient standards so their licensure can adapt to changing needs over time.
